Jackson Public Schools Child Nutrition Summer Feeding Program
YOU ARE INVITED: We are providing free meals to anyone under 18 during our 33rd annual Summer Feeding program. The free meals must be consumed on site according to the federal government's rules for this grant program.
City of Jackson Summer Feeding Program
The City of Jackson is hosting its Summer Feeding Program from June 10 - July 12 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They are serving children from 0 to 18 years of age. All meals must be consumed on site. Please refer to the graphic for locations.
Medgar Evers Birthday Celebration
Shady Grove M.B. Church, in collaboration with the Evers family and the National Park Service, will host its first Medgar Evers Birthday Celebration on June 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. The guest speaker is Dr. William Barber, II.

Juneteenth Mississippi Homecoming

Igniting Pride Celebration: JSU Drum Major Mural Unveiled
This enriching community event will spotlight the unveiling of the JSU Drum Major Mural by acclaimed local artist Tony Davenport, alongside an evening filled with entertainment and cultural appreciation.
Guests will be treated to an exhilarating performance by the High Frequency Band, known for their vibrant and soulful musical renditions. Adding to the festivity, a complimentary fish fry will be catered by Calvin Younger of Cey, Let’s Eat, offering a taste of authentic local cuisine.
The evening will also honor Caryl Barnwell, the esteemed owner of Bet R Way Cleaners. As a pivotal figure in the Jackson business community, Barnwell’s contributions epitomize the spirit of entrepreneurship and community service that the Center aims to foster.
BGBB Literacy Foundation Kids Red Carpet Book Tour and Literacy Festival
With the focus and belief that literacy is in all things, the event provides an interactive and fun environment that encourages children to explore their literary interests. From kid-friendly red-carpet interviews, face painting, virtual reality and/or other STEM activities, reading books by authors, and more, the event is designed to be an enriching experience for children. 2024 Georgetown Festival
The 21st Georgetown Festival will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, featuring music from Dave Mack, Andre Lee, and more! This event is free and open to the public. Bring lawn chairs and trash bags. Lynch Street CME Church and Pecan Tree Park Neighborhood Association will host its Community Outreach and Fun Day on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10 am to 2 pm on the grounds of Lynch Street CME Church. Free clothes, food and games, and health screenings will be available. The Jackson Fire Department, Jackson Police Department, Hinds County Sheriff Department will make special presentations! Come out for a fun day filled with music and fellowship!
