JAN Board Member Feature: Dr. May Francis “Fran” Bridges

Fran Bridges, JAN Ward 5 representative

Dr. May Francis “Fran” Bridges, a native of Tylertown, MS, is a JAN Ward 5 representative and serves as president of the Pecan Tree Park Neighborhood Association. She is also co-principal investigator for Gateways for a Greener Jackson (USDA Forestry Service).

Dr. Bridges received a bachelor’s and master’s in business administration with a minor in early childhood education and a doctorate in education administration from Jackson State University. She spent 15 years with South Central Bell and AT&T and worked for Jackson State University as a recruitment and enrollment manager before retiring in December 2017. While at JSU, Dr. Bridges also served eight years as the assistant director of the executive Ph.D. program and the Jake Ayers Institute for Research.

Dr. Bridges has been with JAN for two years and has a passion for communtiy advocacy and helping others. She believes that JAN represents an opportunity to share across wards to help everyone grow and thrive as Jackson moves forward. “We are rising together,” said Bridges. “If we lift from the bottom, everyone rises.”
