JSU Celebration Bowl Championship Parade Planned for January 17
The City of Jackson and Jackson State University are planning a parade to celebrate JSU’s victory in the 2024 Cricket Celebration Bowl. The parade is scheduled for Friday, January 17, at 3 p.m. More details are forthcoming.
Santa Zoo Station at the Jackson Zoo Returns
Santa Zoo Station at the Jackson Zoo will take place this weekend, December 21-22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This family-friendly event will include holiday activities for children 13 and under accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased online in advance due to limited availability. Activities include cookie decorating, writing letters to Santa, a hot cocoa station, and a photo opportunity with Santa!

Hotel O Demolition Update
The City of Jackson is awaiting the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality's review of a request to demolish the abandoned and dilapidated Hotel O, located on the I-55 Frontage Road. A notice is expected within the next two weeks. Once a notice is received, a demolition date will be scheduled, with an anticipated date of January 2025.
