Roll-off Dumpster Day Rescheduled for February 22

The Roll-off Dumpster Day scheduled for Saturday, February 8, has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 22. A dumpster will be available at the Metrocenter Mall (old Dillard’s parking lot) beginning at 8 a.m. and going until 3 p.m., weather permitting. Residents may bring all household furniture, small appliances, and accessories for disposal. However, tires, chemicals, and gas tanks are not accepted. Participants are required to place debris inside the dumpster provided at the location. The City is asking residents not to leave debris if the dumpster is not available.

City businesses and residents living outside the city limits of Jackson are not eligible to participate. Proof of residency may be required.

Roll-off days will continue to be held on the second Saturday of every month as resources allow. For more information about Roll-Off Dumpster Day and other Solid Waste programs, contact the City of Jackson at 601-960-0000 or visit the website at http://www.jacksonms.gov/.

Highway 18 Lighting Project Complete

The City of Jackson, along with Ward 4 Councilman Brian Grizzell and some South Jackson neighborhood leaders, held a press conference on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, to denote the completion of the Highway 18 Lighting Project. This project was the idea of De’Keither Stamps, a former city councilman and current public service commissioner. Years ago, South Jackson residents requested improved lighting along the thoroughfare to attract businesses and increase safety in the community. The City made an initial investment and worked alongside Entergy for installation. Nearly 90 lights have been installed on Highway 18 in South Jackson.
